Amelia’s first solo show will be presented by Public Record Gallery.

The exhibition will showcase a collection of hand-crafted sculptural furniture pieces created entirely from two elm trees grown in Whākatu/Nelson and pays homage to the Nelson region where she has spent the last year living, connecting, and creating.

In this collection, organic sculptural forms are framed by structured linear elements and punctuated with finely crafted details. The resulting furniture pieces are solid yet dynamic. 

They elicit a sense of playfulness and tactility. Drawing on the concept of 'building blocks', Amelia's pieces have multiple configurations available and invite the owner to experiment. She imagines the possibility of the pieces evolving over time.

With inspiration from her upbringing within a family of artists and her formal architecture training, Amelia traverses the boundaries between form and function, art and furniture, precision and fluidity. Her collection exists at the nexus of object art, contemporary woodworking, and furniture design.
